Baby Shower
The Hunter 8th Grade parents are hosting a shower for Mr. and Mrs. Miller and their new baby. The shower will be held during the January 15th OHSBB meeting. Gifts would be welcome but not required. We know that the baby is a little girl. Her name is going to be Virginia Renee Miller. They plan on calling her Ginny. We hope to keep this a surprise. See you there.
Carols by Candlelight
"Carols by Candlelight" is our annual Christmas Concert. This year the concert will be held at the Clarion Hotel in downtown Chattanooga (407 Chestnut Street, Chattanooga, TN 37402). The Clarion has completed Phase One of a $20-million renovation and they have offered their newly remodeled ballroom for this concert. The Clarion will be serving some wonderful desserts and coffee or tea and the doors will open at 7:00 PM. The concert will begin at approximately 7:30 PM. Currently there is only a single performance on December 10th, but if sales are strong a second concert on the 11th may be offered.
Tickets are on sale in the OHS Band this Wednesday, Thursday and Friday (December 5th, 6th, and 7th) at $6.00 per person. Or you may make special arrangements with Alice Swearingen via
The Ooltewah HS Band would like to thank
Bill Mish (Cody Hammond's step-father) and the
Clarion Hotel staff. The Clarion has offered us this space and furniture, all linens, coffee/tea
and all table service at no charge and the dessert bar at cost.

Bus for 8th Graders
Hunter Middle: Angela Camp checked with the office at Hunter Middle on 08/10 to find out which buses the 8th graders from HMS need to take to get to OHS on band practice days. She was told they can ride Bus #6, #18, or #26. It appears that several of the HMS students doing OHS marching band have band during 8th period (last class of the day). They may want to get together and ride the same bus.
Ooltewah Middle: Bus #238 (a Special Ed bus) will be carrying just the 8th grade band members from OMS to OHS, before picking up its students at OES. The bus will begin running Wednesday, August 15th. The band members will be dismissed at 2:25 so they can beat the other buses off the OMS campus and should arrive at OHS before practice begins.
Garment Bags
Quality garment bags, custom embroidered with the student's name, are once again available this year.
This is an optional purchase which many parents take advantage of since it simplifies the tracking all
the pieces of the tuxedo uniform (shirt, suspenders, pants, cummerbund, black socks, and marching shoes).
The cost is still $21.00 and
will be placing another order at the beginning of the school year and they take approximately
two weeks to arrive. Contact Joyce and provide the exact spelling of the student's first and last
name if you wish to place an order. Payment is due when the order is placed.
Schedule Changes!
Details Pending for March
08/24 Football Game
Students must report to the band room at 5PM and wear khaki shorts, true red polo shirts (not burgundy), and tennis shoes
(no sandals, no crocks, etc.). This uniform is also to be worn by the color guard.
Also due by this date is a 12-pack of either Coke brand products (cans) or bottled water. These
can be dropped off at the band room and they will be used throughout the football season. They are served to the kids
along with pizza that is provided at cost ($1.00 for 2 slices). They will not be able to make change for large bills,
so please send dollar bills with your children.
Band at Lookouts 8/22
The band will be performing the National Anthem at the Lookouts game on Wednesday, 08.02.2007 and all band members are to report to the stadium by 6:00 PM.
Students will assemble at the top of the escalator and then perform at 7:10 PM.
Students must wear khaki shorts, true red polo shirts (not burgundy), and tennis shoes
(no sandals, no crocks, etc.).
If the parents are planning on getting tickets for the game, they can drop the students off near the escalator and then use the free parking and shuttle. Free parking is available at the Unum/Provident parking lots on Third Street that are just past the intersection of Market and Third Street. The Lookouts Trolley runs continuously between the stadium and these lots from 1/2 hour before the gates open until 1/2 hour after the game ends. There is also parking available throughout the downtown area, including the Carta Garage at the intersection of Chestnut and Third Street.
Some students have a conflict with church activities, so let Mr. Denton know if you'll not be able to attend. Students performing will be able to leave as early as 7:30PM. Students may also stay and watch the game for free and be picked up at 9PM.
Chick-fil-A

Car Wash Aug. 11th
There will be a car wash at the Ooltewah Wal-Mart on Saturday, August 11th from 9:30 AM until 3:00 PM.
Wal-Mart has limited the work team to 15 persons at a time, so you need to email

want to work then we may have to work in shifts.
URGENT! Tux Measurements
DEADLINE EXTENDED! There are over 50 first-year band students, but about 30% have missed the orginal, MANDATORY deadline! All first time band members MUST be measured and place their order BY 08/05
New musicians (but not color guard) are required to obtain a band tuxedo from Eaves Formal Wear. We are required to film a band performance, early in the school year, which must be presented to the Macy's organizers for review. Therefore, all band members (that don't already have a band tuxedo) must get measured and place their order in July. The tuxedos must be ordered from Eaves Formal Wear and it is critical that you tell them that it is for the Ooltewah Band Tuxedo.
Both girls and boys wear the same tuxedo and we recommend that you not get the fitted pants that are "just right." Instead get the adjustable pants with a couple of inches of play to them. Students will be wearing suspenders so the looseness will not be problem. Using this recommendation has allowed a number of students to complete their entire four years of band with just a single pair of tux pants. The cost, including tax, of the tuxedo uniform is $73.50.
Tuxedo measurements and orders must be placed at the Tuxedos by Eaves location,
which is located near the Target on Gunbarrel Road (i.e., in the Gunbarrel Pointe shopping plaza). Their store is located
between David's Bridal and the Nestle Toll House Café. Their phone number is 423-894-9730. Their location can
bee seen on this map
You MUST be measured and place your order BY 08/05
in July because Eaves will be ordering the
tuxedos on August 1st 6th.
IMPORTANT! Mass Band Aug. 2nd
Students must arrive early on Thursday (08/02). Students need to arrive at 7:00 AM and be wearing khaki shorts and a plain white T-Shirt. They will join other area schools at UTC and play as a mass band. Then about 12:15 they will relocate to Coolidge Park where they will be provided lunch, leave about 2:15 PM, and be back to the school before 5 PM. If you cannot pick up your student early, chaperones will stay with the remaining students until 5:30 PM.

A New Design!
To smooth the March to Macy's we're redesigning the website. To bring these enhancements to you quickly, some pages are still under construction and will retain their legacy appearance. And none of the pages will be complete without your contributions. If you've got news, photos, documents, corrections, etc. please email Craig Given
Organization: The main
menu appears in the upper left of each page. Subcategories and
related links are found in the sidebar on the right hand of each page.
Links to external websites are identified with the
symbol. Also, links to the old, legacy web pages will be
distinguished with the

Communication: Breaking news and the next few events appear on the News page. The What's New page (see link in the News page's sidebar) lists changes made throughout the website. It's a centralized location to see updates since your last visit.
Presentation: The clean, crisp design shows businesses that we mean business and encourages sponsorship. On that note, if you find any typographical errors or inaccuracies, email Craig Given.
